In the daily maintenance of cars, filters are often overlooked. However, the working condition of the filter is directly related to the lifespan and performance of the engine. Whether it is an air filter, an oil filter or a fuel filter, regular cleaning or replacement is an important link to ensure the normal operation of a car.

Types and Functions of Automotive Filters

Air filter
Located in the intake system, it filters dust, sand particles and impurities in the air to ensure that the air entering the engine is clean. If the filter is too dirty and the air circulation is not smooth, it will lead to incomplete fuel combustion, reduced power and increased fuel consumption.

Oil filter
Filter impurities, metal shavings and carbon deposits in the engine oil to protect engine components. A clogged oil filter can cause poor lubrication and even lead to engine damage.

Fuel filter
It mainly filters impurities and moisture in gasoline or diesel to protect the fuel injection system. If clogged, it will cause difficulty in starting the engine, weak acceleration and even stalling.

Suggestions for Cleaning and Replacement

The cleaning methods for different filters vary. Here are some practical suggestions:

Air filter

Cleaning cycle ** : It is generally recommended to clean every 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers and replace every 20,000 kilometers (depending on the specific environment).

Cleaning method: ** After removing the filter element, use high-pressure air to blow off the dust from the inside out. Do not wash the paper filter element with water. If it is a washable type (such as high-performance sponge filter elements), it can be rinsed with clean water and neutral detergent, dried and then reinstalled.

Oil filter

Suggested replacement: ** Replace the oil filter each time you change the engine oil. It is usually once every 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers.

Note:It is not recommended to clean the oil filter before use. Instead, replace it with a new one directly.

Fuel filter

Replacement cycle ** : Gasoline vehicles should be replaced approximately every 20,000 to 30,000 kilometers, while diesel vehicles may be replaced more frequently.

Usage Suggestion: It is also not recommended to clean and reuse the fuel filter. Once it gets clogged, it must be replace.

Why can't the cleaning of the filter be ignored?
Extend the engine life

Improve fuel economy

Ensure driving safety

Reduce exhaust emissions, be environmentally friendly and energy-saving

Warm Reminders

If you often drive in areas with heavy sand and dust or severe pollution, you should shorten the cleaning/replacement cycle.

Regularly check the condition of the filter. If you are not sure, you can ask a professional technician for assistance.

Don't buy low-quality filters just to save money. The quality of the filter material directly affects the filtration effect.
